On October 5-6, 2023, the Chernivtsi Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine hosted a scientific and practical seminar titled “Current Problems of Conducting Computer-Technical and Telecommunication Examinations and Ways to Solve Them.”

The event aimed to identify problematic issues and ways to resolve them when performing computer-technical and telecommunication expert examinations:

  • exchange of best practices;
  • introduction to new methods and software products, and to the current state of legal and regulatory frameworks in this field.

During the event, participants shared their own experience and heard reports from leading specialists on the practical aspects of examining less common types of digital storage media, such as damaged and locked mobile devices, unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and smartwatches.

CyberLab employees took part in the seminar. Hryhorii Bendovskyi delivered a report titled “Problematic Issues and Proposals on Methodological Support for Computer-Technical Examinations.” Oleksandr Yefimov presented his report, “Specifics of Examining Damaged Mobile Devices.” Mykola Serhiienko spoke on “Some Aspects of Inspecting and Extracting Information from Mobile Devices in ‘Field’ Conditions.”

The event helped experts improve their qualifications and refresh their knowledge of the topics covered in the participants’ reports.
