On August 22–23, 2024, the Incident Response Days competition was once again held, organized by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, with the support of CRDF Global in Ukraine, the U.S. Department of State, and in cooperation with the National Aviation University. The event’s technology partners included the digital forensics company CyberLab and Cyber Unit Technologies.
The goal of Incident Response Days is to enhance the qualifications of cybersecurity professionals and improve their practical skills by solving challenges that closely mimic real-world cyber incidents.
Valentyn Kucheriuk, Director of CyberLab, delivered a welcome speech to the participants. He emphasized that regularly hosting such events positively impacts the performance of participating teams when dealing with actual cyber incidents. He also expressed his hopes for future editions — IRD 4.0 and 5.0.
Over the course of two days, participants worked in teams, applying and honing their knowledge and skills. They learned how to collaborate more effectively, explored new strategies and solutions, and focused on improving their ability to respond to cyber incidents.
Once again, tasks were performed using a unique scenario on the Ukrainian cyber range CyberRangeUA, developed by Cyber Unit Technologies, which served as the core training platform for INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS 3.0.
INCIDENT RESPONSE DAYS has become a key event for the cybersecurity community within the IT industry. Through these competitions, specialist teams are able to sharpen the essential skills required for rapid and effective incident response.
