All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference: ‘National Security of Ukraine in the Face of Russian Aggression: Current Issues of Expert-Criminalistic and Scientific-Technical Support’

On August 22, 2023, in Kyiv, Ukraine, a nationwide scientific and practical conference was held on the theme: “National Security of Ukraine in the Face of Russian Aggression: Current Issues of Expert-Criminalistic and Scientific-Technical Support.” The event was organized by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) and the Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Expertise of the SBU, and it took place both in-person and through video conferencing.

Participants included representatives from the Security Service of Ukraine, other government agencies, enterprises, organizations, academic and forensic institutions, and higher education institutions, as well as researchers and experts.

During the conference, the following topics were discussed:

  • Current aspects of the development of legal and regulatory support for expert-criminalistic provision of Ukraine’s national security.
  • Organization of forensic and technical-criminalistic support for operational activities of the units and divisions of the Security Service of Ukraine in wartime conditions.
  • Expert-criminalistic support for the investigation of crimes against the foundations of Ukraine’s national security.
  • Prospective developments in forensic techniques and directions for the use of specialized knowledge in criminal proceedings.
  • International cooperation in the field of expert-criminalistic support for Ukraine’s national security.

Sergey Mykhailovych Denisenko, the Executive Director of CyberLab, delivered a presentation on the topic: “Problematic Issues and Proposals Regarding Methodological Support for Conducting Forensic Examinations in the Expert Specialty 10.9 Research of Computer Hardware and Software.”

Invited CyberLab personnel actively participated in discussions and debates during the conference, further highlighting the importance of the topics discussed.

Such events dedicated to the issues of Ukraine’s national security, especially during times of war, serve as a foundation for continued communication and collaboration, providing an opportunity to find like-minded individuals for cooperation and mutual assistance. They also contribute to the implementation of modern technologies and innovative integrations directly into the field of expert-criminalistic and scientific-technical activities.
