Experience of Ukraine on the Cyberfront: National Cybersecurity Cluster 2024

The international meeting of the National Cybersecurity Cluster took place in the capital of Romania and served as a platform for exchanging experiences, enhancing cooperation with European partners.

Ukraine’s experience in protecting its cyber sector systems is today a vital source of knowledge for the international community.

The Cluster meeting was organized by the National Coordination Center for Cybersecurity (NCCS) as a working body of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC), the National Directorate for Cybersecurity of Romania, and CRDF Global in Ukraine.

The participants focused on the following issues:

  • Risks of escalating cyberwar in Southeast Europe
  • Synergy between the state and business to strengthen collective security
  • Deepening cooperation with the EU and NATO: Practical steps for Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity

The platform brought together over 100 participants, including representatives from leading Ukrainian and European institutions, organizations, and companies.

Ukraine’s experience was presented by experts from the Security Service of Ukraine, the National Bank of Ukraine, the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, the State Special Communication and Information Protection Service of Ukraine, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Cyberlab, and Cyber Unit Technologies.

Valentyn Kucheriuk, Director of CyberLab, spoke in the session “Synergy Between State and Business to Strengthen Collective Security,” discussing successes and opportunities in public-private partnerships, using examples of the company’s work and specific projects with government institutions.

European contributions in the sector were presented by speakers from the National University of Political Studies and Public Administration of Romania (Școala Națională de Studii Politice și Administrative – SNSPA), the Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digitalization of Romania (Ministerul Cercetării, Inovării și Digitalizării – România), the Council of Europe, the Euro-Atlantic Resilience Centre, the European External Action Service (EEAS), Bitdefender, and NEXTLAB.TECH.

The primary goal of the event was to establish connections between the Romanian and Ukrainian cyber ecosystems. The event was a significant step in strengthening and developing robust Ukrainian-Romanian cooperation.
