On June 4, 2024, an international scientific and practical round table was held in Kyiv, organized by CyberLab in collaboration with the Institute of Special Equipment and Forensic Examinations of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). The event’s theme was “Adaptation and Innovation in Computer Forensics in Ukraine During Martial Law: Challenges, Strategies, and Prospects.”
Among the participants of the round table were representatives from the Research and Development Center for Forensic Expertise in the field of information technologies and intellectual property, the Bureau of Economic Security of Ukraine, the State Bureau of Investigation, the Cyber Police Department of the National Police of Ukraine, the Ukrainian National Office of Intellectual Property and Innovations, forensic institutions of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine, the Expert Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, and regional divisions of the SBU. Representatives from Passware also participated in the event.
The event was officially opened with welcoming remarks from Yuri Chechil, Director of ISTE SBU; Valentin Kucheryuk, Director of CyberLab; Oleksandr Ruvin, Director of the Kyiv Scientific Research Institute of Forensic Expertise; Mykhailo Mozhaiev, Director of the Research and Development Center for Forensic Expertise in the Field of Information Technology and Intellectual Property; and Serhiy Denysenko, Executive Director of CyberLab.

CyberLab’s representative, Oleksandr Yefimov, also spoke at the event. The topic of his presentation was “FEATURES OF MOBILE DEVICE INVESTIGATION USING SOFTWARE AND HARDWARE COMPLEXES.” During his presentation, he discussed the existing aspects of obtaining information from mobile phones and presented the results of two conducted experiments.
Given the event’s theme and the specific direction of forensic examinations in the field of computer forensics, it should be noted that holding such events positively contributes to the development of the industry, the exchange of experience, and undoubtedly the establishment of interdepartmental relations between specialists in this field.
