The two-day “Regional Cyber Resilience Forum” took place in Lviv on July 24-25, 2024. The event was organized by the National Cybersecurity Coordination Center (NCSCC) under the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine and CRDF Global in Ukraine, with support from the U.S. Department of State, the Security Service of Ukraine, the State Service of Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine, the Lviv Regional State Administration, and the Lviv State University of Life Safety.
The forum’s partners included the CyberLab Computer Forensics Laboratory, the Institute of Cyber Warfare Research, and the “Parkovy” Data Center.
Forum’s Objective: Strengthening cyber resilience in the regions and Ukraine as a whole through knowledge exchange, expert discussions, and strategic partnerships.
Topics Discussed:
- The importance of regional cybersecurity;
- Ensuring cyber resilience of transport infrastructure;
- Ukraine’s experience in countering Russian cyber aggression;
- Enhancing the cyber resilience of critical infrastructure;
- The role and capabilities of the Tallinn mechanism;
- Countering Russian disinformation and propaganda in the energy sector, among others.
CyberLab Director Valentin Kucheruk spoke in the second panel discussion on “Ensuring Cyber Resilience of Transport Infrastructure.” In his speech, he discussed the specifics of cooperation within the framework of public-private partnerships and the challenges faced by his team in ensuring cyber resilience during the war. He also highlighted the staffing issues in regional IT departments and shared the private sector’s experience in addressing these challenges.
The Regional Cyber Resilience Forum successfully drew attention to key issues in the regional sector, and the experiences shared by invited speakers will help find the most effective ways to ensure cyber resilience in the regions.
